Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Intercontinental Rally, we will be offering You the option of starting the rally with us in Paris on January 16th, giving You the option of driving from Paris to Dakar. The start in Paris will be a ‘soft and celebratory’ start without timekeeping. The timekeeping will start after technical and administration inspection in Morocco. That means that this year, the real race to Dakar will be starting north of Marrocco on January 20th. The technical inspection will take place on January 19th. The light categories will finish in Dakhla on January 24th and the full categories will finish in Dakar on February 1st.
Intercontinental Rally is an annual off-road competition and adventure rally for motor enthusiasts who want to participate in a challenging and well-organized, trans-African rally. The 2020 edition of the rally will take place between January 20th and February 1st.
The route passes through some of the most spectacular landscapes in Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal evoking a timeless sense of adventure and exploration. From the endless dunes of the Sahara to the desolate expanses of coastal deserts, the rocky trails of the Atlas, and the low lying savanna, each day brings new surprises and unexpected challenges.

In an effort to make the Intercontinental Rally an event accessible to almost any off-road driver and rider, we have a short and long route options each with competitive and adventure categories.
The choices are:
- 5 day Lite route starting in Mahirija(Morocco) and ending in Dakhla( Morocco).
- 13 day Full Range route starting in Mahirija(Morocco), and ending on the shores of Lac Rose in Senegal.
Each of these is further differentiated into two categories based on the level of competition and difficulty of the terrain.

The Race category is a physically demanding and navigationally challenging competition that will test even seasoned veterans of African rallies. During each stage, competitors race against the clock on an off-road course navigating with GPS receivers and earning credits by reaching control points. There are 4 classes – Motorcycles, Quads, UTV/BUGGY and Cars – with the top three finishers in each receiving awards. Special recognition is awarded to the most successful team overall.
The Adventure category provides a more relaxed rally experience without competition or a prescribed route. Adventure category participants receive a detailed GPS itinerary with the daily stages and are free to roam and discover, visiting places along the route and connecting with local people.
